Sound Insulation Testing Check List

It may save you thousands of pounds to call us for consultation before starting a project, help and advise with construction methods and preventing sound from flanking around your wall or floor can be invaluable.

Are you ready for a sound test?

    Please contact us if in any doubt but here is a quick check list prior to “Sound Testing”.

  • A semi detached party wall should take no longer than an hour and a party floor requiring impact as well as airborne testing should take no longer than 1.5 -2 hours, during this time please ensure the below pointers are met
  • Make sure no plant machinery, workers drilling banging etc will be present whilst testing
  • Make sure the building envelope is complete with external windows and doors installed to at least one side of the party wall
  • Make sure 240 volt electricity is available in rooms under test (Extension Leads may be provided but not ideal)
  • Ideally plaster either side of dividing party wall of floor to make airtight seal to perimeter edge
  • Constantly running site generators are permitted but impact noise i.e whacker plates diggers skill saws will be very detrimental to gaining a pass
  • Make sure you have a quite site as possible for accurate sound testing
